Motorcycle Snowmobile Is Rulon Gardner indestructible?
Sorry to interrupt the dumb WWE lovefest with an actual real wrestling question, but what do you guys think about Rulon Gardner? He beat the unbeatable Russian, Karelin, in the Olympics a few years back, and since then he's survived two frostbitten toes after a snowmobile accident in Wyoming, a motorcycle accident, and most recently a plane crash in Lake Powell where he had to swim for an hour in 44-degree weather to save himself. Is this guy amazing, or just amazingly unlucky?
He recently got his butt kicked in an MMA event, so I will go with Not Indestructible.
how and why does yamaha make so much different kinds of stuff?
seriously, they make dirtbikes, saxophones, keyboards, snowmobiles, golf carts, synthesizers, amplifiers, jet skis, pianos, microphones, motorcycles, boats....wtf?
It's called diversification. Yamaha started out as a musical instrument company mostly with pianos and reed instruments. After WWII, they decided to retool some of their manufacturing to produce motorcycles. I assume it was in response to the fact that they rightfully believed more people would be looking for cheap transportation as opposed to pianos after the war. From there, they've continued to get into markets that they thought they could do well in and have some level of excellence.
Alot of global companies try to do the same thing in order to balance the ups and downs of different sectors. Although Yamaha's portfolio is probably more diverse than others, it does follow along some general groupings. They're still in musical instruments and motorized vehicles but also now have a very large electronics division.
Lastly, Japanese companies seem to run a little differently than most. The chairman seems to have alot more control of the company and has more power to chart the direction. I would imagine that some of these areas may have just been something the chairman was interested in and felt they could do it better.
