The back of my 4 month old son's head is pretty much completely flat from sleeping on his back, His pediatrician has told us he most likely would need the helmet, unless we just want him to have a flat head which we don't of course. If so, how long did they have it, what was their reaction to having to wear it all the time, what was the initial consultation like, and how much did it cost you personally, because were expecting to pay a lot for it since insurance usually won't cover it..Basically tell me everything. I'd suggest you get a second or even third opinion.. My daughter had a bit of a flat spot and I was told she'd need the helmet by a Child Health nurse and also by the specialist we were referred to. But then when I went to my paediatrician (for something unrelated) and mentioned the helmet he was completely against it. He said a lot of babies that have flat spots improve as they grow, and he was right. The possible benefits of the helmet seem to outweigh how uncomfortable and inconvenient it looks. The helmet can also cause the child to overheat. I chose not to go ahead with the helmet and now my daughter is 2 and the flat spot is completely gone. I guess it depends how severe it is, but I was told my daughter was in the severe category. So yeah, I'd recommend just doing your own research and making an informed decision rather than just letting medical personnel talk you into it.

If I were you, I would have the electronics guys cut the speaker wire and install a headphone jack on the cut cable and a plug on the speakers, so you can plug in either the speakers or earbuds at will and try either one. Personally, I would get a set of these (or something like them):
