Cat Ladies What is "Toxoplasma gondii" and is it true that this is the "Crazy Cat lady" Disease?
I have noticed that many single women are overly affectionate to their cats and they often become "Cat Lovers" and even "Cat Hoarders". Is it true that this parasite know as "Toxoplasma gondii" could be transmitted via cat to lady and turning them into the "Crazy Cat Lady".
I hadn't thought about toxoplasmosis since 1981
when I was first pregnant. Then, it was known to cause problems for pregnant women and fetuses. Now it is said to affect emotions. For instance rodents with toxoplasmosis aren't afraid of the smell of cat urine.
Scholars vary over where crazy cat ladies originated from. One recent theory suggests that all crazy cat ladies are descended from a community of Spinsters in Pequot New Jersey. The first reported case of a crazy cat lady was Miss Ellie Lupine Martin, herself of Pequot New Jersey. According to recently rediscovered newspaper reports police visited her home in June of 1879 and found the home occupied by Miss Martin, along with 39 house cats; 7 of which had passed on and been partially consumed by the other cats. There may be other unreported cases as-going that far back in history-the defining characteristic of dwellings inhabited by crazy cat ladies: a house that smells like piss and stool - was less noticeable in the age of horse-drawn carriages, when most major metropolitan areas reeked of piss and stool.

Speaking in Tokyo, European Central Bank President, Jean-Claude Trichet did not disclose even a hint of what the ECB’s plans were for the future. Despite announcements that the Bank will be moving more aggressively in May, there has been no disclosure as to what this means. Trichet also seemed to lash out at Bank members who have openly disagreed with the ECB’s monetary policy warning that even the slightest of ambiguousness would prolong the return of “sustainable prosperity” to the Eurozone.
Trichet’s failure to clarify the ECB’s stance on interest rates and the Banks “unconventional” policy has frustrated investors and it has been showing in the performance of the Euro. Friday’s slide to a 1 month low against the US Dollar and the rough broker trading in the Euro overall the last few sessions highlight this frustration.
Adding to the plight of the Euro was an announcement from Moody’s that Ireland’s “AAA” rating for government debt will likely be cut if their growth potential and debt burden do not improve.
At the close on Friday daily FX updates, the Euro was down 1.07% to the USD to 130.43, down 1.18% to the Japanese Yen to 129.35, down .5% to the British Pound to .8813, down .78% to the Canadian Dollar to 1.5825, and down 1.62% to the Australian Dollar to 1.8055. The only highlight for the Euro Friday was against the Swiss Franc after the Swiss National Bank Chairman announced that the SNB would act swiftly should the Franc strengthen. This sent the Euro up ½% to 1.5199.
Green Snow Sled Can you get cooked Sculpty clay wet?
I made a sled out of popsicle sticks and a sled dog out of sculpty clay, the white stuff in the green box with a clay mermaid on the cover, and I was wondering if I could play with it outside when it snows, or if it would get soggy and my dog would be ruined. Thanks. smile
It shouldn't get soggy. Water will bead up on fired polymer clay. You can even wash it with lukewarm water and mild soap if needed.
Avoid immersing it in chemical cleaners, or getting chlorinated water, perfume or aerosol sprays on your polymer dog, as it may affect the color or finish. Keep away from direct sunlight and temperatures over 85 F. Also, keep it away from oil-based products.
