starting a business to rent out atvs,jetskis etc.?

so i live in a nice smaller town, with a lot of tourists and shackers that come there often, and i was thinking about opening a business where i would rent out jet skis, atv's, snowmobiles etc.. ( we have four seasons, snow in winter , hot summers.) . instead of buying brand new machines i would buy a couple years older models but charge significantly less than the other renters in my area, ie; they charge 100 dollars a day for jet ski n id charge 75 for the day etcc.. i was just wondering what your opinions are because i am new to being a business owner/ would i need a business license even though there would be no middle man, just me, my machines and my customers. how much money do you suppose id need to get started??? thank u much appreciated
is there any way you can make a legal waiver saying that if they get hurt it's their butt and not yours and that u dont have to pay anything??

You will need a business license if your local ordnance's provide for that. Many do.

You will need a substantial amount of capital to purchase and service all these machines. Hopefully you are a good mechanic as you will need to be able to get them back into service quick if they breakdown. Since you are planning on buying used equipment that is always a possibility.

The wild-card is how much personal liability insurance you will need to obtain. There is a very real risk of lawsuits in this type business. And you are likely to find it tough to get enough coverage if you have any assets at all. Search that out first.
