I ski and snowboard...on expert runs...no reason to choose one or the other.
They both have their pros and cons. Snowboarding will be a bit tougher to pick up, because you cannot manipulate your legs and feet nearly as well to control your balance. Also, you lose out on a couple of runs a day just wasting time strapping in. I ski more than I snowboard because it gives me more freedom to explore backcountry areas and also lets me progress in my abilities each time i go out. On a board, you seem to get to a point where it is the same shit every day.
One bad thing about skiing for some people is the boots. For a snowboarder, it may be hard to get used to plastic shelled boots. They are much heavier, and if you dont own your own boots, finding a pair of rentals that fits is nearly impossible.
