What is the darkest pencil I can buy?
I need dark pencils that don't smudge a lot and are good to sketch dark hair and nails with....I only have light ones that turn out shiny and don't look as good. What is the darkest pencil I can buy? Do I need graphite or charcoal to shade in dark hair, jackets, nails, etc.? Also, what kind of tooth is it that's really rough, like bumpy and not smooth? I'm going to Michaels soon and need these supplies
Michael's will have a great selection of pencils, If you want dark, go with the highest number like 8b (That's my favorite because of its darkness & ease of blending.) However, the darker (or softer) you go, the more "smudging" will occur, its just the nature of pencils. Derwent are good pencils & I think smudge the least, but that's just opinion. My teachers were always trying to get me to use lighter (harder) pencils like 4h's, & told me to build up the layers of graphite, there is less smudging but to me, I just couldn't get it dark enough, so i always opted for the softer pencils, 6b & 8b. They make softer ones, I have 9's I think, but I tend to go back to 8's. You don't have to use charcoal, but it sure is the darkest you can go, but I'd avoid it if you're looking for something that won't smudge, because MAN charcoal does, (that's what its for), its actually a great medium to work with if you want to try it, I'd encourage it. As far as tooth goes, Michael's doesn't have a lot of variety in this department, I like using illustration board. You can rub your finger up against the paper & you'll feel the roughness, the smoother it feels the less of a tooth, the harder it is to get your pencils dark. You can get lots of paper & board at local supply art stores rather then the larger chains like Michael's. Have fun!

Is a Men's small going to fit TOO largely?!?
I want the Northface Mcmurdo Parka in Graphite Grey but of course it's a men's jacket. I like the looks of the men's version way more than the boy's version. Would a small in men's be WAY too huge for a girl that usually wears a size small? I checked out the size charts but since it's not a fitted jacket, I'd like some other opinions.
it would be rather big. I'm normaly a womens l/xl and in guys clothes i wear a med/large depending how i want it to fit
a small would be a big big, but since it's not fitted its less of a big deal
