Snowmobiling boots

Is a chest protector/roost guard that is too big still good enough?
Or must it fit snugly in order to work? Thing is I'm buying my young son a dirt bike and am looking for protective gear for him and have only found two chest guards that will fit him and one doesn't look like enough protection. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/8/32/23237/ITEM/Fox-Racing-Pee-Wee-Titan-Roost-Deflector.aspx?WT.ac=SLIsearch The other is mainly for snowmobiles. Would a bigger one that fits loosely work? They are intended for at least 40-60 lbs. but he is around 30. This is what I'm looking for: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/8/32/1/0/0/DEPARTMENT/Dirt-Bike-Motocross-Protection-Kids-Riding-Gear.aspx#&&Back=0-0-0%2c535-272-0-0-0-24-1-1-1 If not, does anyone know where I can find gear (including jerseys, pants, boots, etc.) for kids his size?
Thanks in advance!
I had this same problem when my son was 3 years old. I found a chest protector that fit him after looking for about a month. I will give you some links. The 661 2.5 pee wee chest protector is the best that I could find for small children. My son wears one and hasn't complained.
