Is there an acceptable level of lying to children?
My dad only had me on the weekends, and I played on things with motors in them- lawn mowers, snowmobiles, atvs, etc. and he told me the hospitals were closed on the weekends, so I had better not get hurt at his house.
Ticktock's daughter was told by her teacher that pop makes your teeth rot and fall out
So if there in an acceptable level of lying to children, what is it for your family?
I believed my dad for quite some time :X
Absolutely there is an acceptable level.
For example, I have three kids. Now if there's only one ice cream bar left in the fridge, I'll lie and tell them that they are all gone, Dad must have eaten the last one. Mostly because the war that only having one ice cream and three kids would start would be horrendous.
Or "Santa won't come until you are asleep, so you need to go to bed early on Christmas Eve."
Or "I have no idea where your pink sparkly heels are (that your teacher has forbade you from wearing to preschool because you can't/won't keep them on your feet nor can you run around on the playground with them on), you need to wear your sneakers since you can't find them." When I know I threw the shoes away.
Or "I don't know where your backpack is, where did you put it when you came in the house?" Knowing full well that the child forgot to take the backpack out of the car.
