Large Hold

What are the stands that hold large books called?
I'm writing a book, and I've used the word dais too many times. I want to give my reader a very clear view of what I'm trying to illustrate without over-using the word or misleading them.
I've seen them in churches and in librarys. They look like podiums, but are probably not used in that way.
Am I correct to assume that are are no reasonable synonyms for dais in this particular instance?
Hello there,
The name for a tall stand from which a reader can speak while standing up is "lectern" (from the Latin "lectrum", from "legere", meaning "to read"). A "dais" is actually a low platform upon which a lectern or throne is placed. Hope this helps:

Can a Vera Bradley Large Duffel hold my figure skates?
I was looking at a vera bradley large duffel and was wondering if they would be big enough for my figure skates. only serious and helpful answers please.
Thats actually what I do. And I still have room for my gloves, skates guards, and my backup skating tights! So yes, it will hold everything.
