Polaris Short 11996 Polaris XCR 600 SP - High pressure in the coolant reservoir?
I recently put in new piston, rings and heads. the snowmobile ran fine the first couple time i test rode it. (very short rides) when i tried to start it again it pulled over hard. when it did start it didn't seem to idle the same as it had. I went to check the coolant level after running it for about 15 seconds , machine now off. the coolant just blew up all over the place. I knew it would be cool and didn't expect that result. I had it filled close to the coolant line. is it possible to have too much in? Is there possibly a bigger problem? When It was running coolant was draining out the overflow hose. Anybodys help would be appreciated.
Sounds like the compression from the engine is being pushed into the cooling system. It could be a bad head gasket (I know it is knew, but they can go bad if not torqued properly) or a crack in the cylinder into the water jacket.
Hi, we just bought a used Polaris 500 from a friend, that did not use the bike much. after a few short rides, and my hubby filling the tank too full, it now leaks gas. The bike would not start, so we took it apart and the air box was filled with gas. Everything was cleaning out and let dry. It now runs, but gas is still leaking and not from the overflow. Please help. Thank You.
It probably has a bad needle valve and seat from sitting.Or a float sticking.Either way if you keep running it like that you will damage the engine from gas washing the oil off the cylinder walls. You need to fix the carb and change the oil before you ride it again.
