Looking for a great US ski resort with a big public cozy fireplace lodge.?
Best US ski resort with a warm romantic public fireplace meeting area where after a long day of skiing you can sip on spiked hot coco with your love one and friends where you all can stay one place...drink, ski and be merry! But most of all being able to enjoy the grand fireplace ambiance. We are not the best skiers but enjoy it and also snowmobiling. But the cozy ambiance need to be top notch.
Very nice place you have suggested...Would you know when the best time to go is?
Hi there,
Luckily for you, I think it's pretty likely that you'll probably find a fireplace in most ski resorts around the country; they certainly seem to be a staple of the apres-ski scene, in both lodges and hotels!
That said, here are a few off-the-beaten-path ideas for you:
Sunday River, Maine:
Overlooking Sunday River, the Phoenix House and Well is a top-notch dining establishment that has won accolades from Wine Spectator magazine -- in a twist on the traditional indoor fireplace, it has a 15-foot-high OUTDOOR fireplace instead!
Lake Tahoe, California:
In North Lake Tahoe, the PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn has a cozy fireplace and a good selection of wine for warming you up! And it's a little different from your regular fireplace scene, but North Star resort has enormous outdoor fire pits around its ice skating rink -- you can even roast marshmallows over them.
Sugarbush, Vermont:
Sugar Lodge at Sugarbush has a great fireplace for gathering around in its great room.
Killington, Vermont
The base lodge at Pico Mountain has a real old-fashioned feel, with a real wood fireplace.
Sun Valley, Idaho:
A quick call to the Sun Valley resort information line confirmed that the Inn at Sun Valley has a communal fireplace for gathering around in its lobby.
And if you want to take the party back to your hotel room, these are some upscale lodging choices with fireplaces you and a group of friends could certainly gather around:
Aspen, Colorado:
Snowmass Village was voted the number one ski area for terrain and conditions by Conde Nast Traveler -- each one-, two-, or three-bed room includes a separate living area with a mammoth rock fireplace.
Deer Valley, Utah:
The Stein Erikson Lodge boasts more than 145 fireplaces (can't go wrong there!)
Whistler, Canada (not strictly U.S., I know, but wasn't quite sure of your criteria; it's still in NORTH America!):
At the Four Seasons hotel, ski instructors hold fireside chats with complimentary hot beverages.
Lake Tahoe, California:
The Fireside Suites at The Resort at Squaw Creek could be a great place for an apres-ski gathering with friends.
Or you could even rent your own lodge!
Wintergreen, West Virginia:
Horseshoe Mountain Lodge, deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains, sleeps 10 and boasts a large fireplace for gathering in the great room. Cozy or what?!
Hope this helps a little -- best of luck on your search for finding something! As I mentioned, most ski resorts do have a fireplace somewhere; it couldn't hurt to pick a region and narrow it down to a few resorts, then call them to find out in depth about the fireside scene!

Is it okay to feed a large breed puppy "small breeds adult formula"?
My german shepherd mix puppy is 3 months. Today my friends have been feeding him way too much dog treats and SMALL BREEDS ADULT FORMULA dog food. Will it stunt his growth if I feed him sMALL BREEDS ADULT FORMULA dog food instead of LARGE BREED PUPPY FORMULA?
On the short term it will not hurt him. however the scientists who studied canine nutrition for years have developed a formula that will ensure proper growth for different dogs, ie puppy food, senior dog food and large breed puppy food.
Based on their scientific knowledge they have discovered that feeding large breed dogs certain elements in their diet will ensure good growth rates and generally reduce long term problems.
When I foster puppies, irrespective of size - I feed large breed pup food. This food contains everything and more to give the neglected pups a good start.
Stick to the formula made for your dog. Both you and your dog will benifit in the end!!
My son is about to be 5 months old, and hes not really teething but is a DROOL monster! I've changed his bib 3x in the past hour! I purchased like 26 bibs yesterday, and we already had about 20 from showers and hand me downs.
As I type this, hes soaked through another one. There were some really absorbent ones people gave us, but we only have so many of them. I thought I could find them at Walmart, but I guess you have to get them at certain locations???
They are the bibs that say " Ladies Man" , and " No Instructions Included", they are green, blue, w/yellow and red font, etc.
Any suggestions on where to get absorbent bibs?
Try going to Babies, Burps, and Binkies on-line, They have a huge selection of bibs and everything else for infants. The web address is below.
First of all what do you have to offer? If you are blogging, selling a product, selling a service or whatever mean you are offering on your website is it valuable? Would you read your own blog? Would you use your own product or service? Chances are if you provide valuable content to your users they not only will keep coming back, they will refer you to their friends and their friends to their friends and so on. That is how you expand through word of mouth. How many times you go to the mall and find that they are having a good sale, do you not call your girlfriends and tell them about? I bought a Combi double stroller for my daughters just because a lady at the store had one and she told me that if was the best double stroller around. I later find out that I could have shop around some more, but that is not the point. They got my business because they were valuable to somebody so she testify in their favor. This is true for a website good content=good traffic.
2 - Scratch that.. Original content is key
Last time in How to make money from your website
I talk about niche, is your content, product, service original? You can't go sell burgers in front of a McDonald. That is just plain stupid, unless your burgers are some finger licking, slap your mama kind of burger that people just can't pass. I'm not saying to run away from the competition, because there's nothing new under the sun what ever you can come up with someone else somewhere had probably already done it. I'm saying to make sure that your version has something original. In one of my breastfeeding classes I used to go to, I once met a mom who makes bibs. Are bibs a new concept? No but her bibs had these all around feel to it that would caught the baby's slabs even if the baby was lying down. I thought that was very clever and all the moms agree that regular bibs don't give you that feature. All the moms bought it including me. My point is although bibs are sold in almost every baby store around hers was original. That goes also for a website although there are millions of websites out there; yours can still be something that people need.
3 - Have a heart for people
Be mindful of people, if you care about people they will care about you. It's the golden rule Do to others as you would have them do to you. Would you keep going back to your site if it wasn't yours? Umh.. That's all I'm going to say.
Why do you want traffic to your site anyway? What does more traffic mean to you? Does more traffic just mean more money or does it mean you get to serve more people? What is your primary motive? Focus on the people.
4 - Keep money in its proper place.
Don't be greedy. Just focus on genuinely helping people and the rest will take care of itself.
Anyway Building a high-traffic website can be very challenging ugh! I know. These words of advice just sort of get your foot wet - keep learning. Most the of the time you will learn through your trial and errors, if you lucky you get to learn from someone else's mistakes.
I guess you are lucky.

Why do my cats love the smell of Clorox?
When I use Clorox to clean and my cats smell it, they go crazy. They roll around on the floor like they are in love with that Clorox. If I get it on me, they will follow me everywhere til that smell is gone. It's funny to watch. It's like cat nip to them. Anyone else's cats act like that around Clorox?
I had no idea they did! My three cats are going to have lots of fun now!!

Adult Education - Creating Overwhelmingly Successful Learning Programs for the (supposed) Adults in Your Organization
Every organization understands the value of ongoing education and training. We all want to have a staff of professionals who continue to grow and improve themselves in their specialty, to learn the ropes of their industry, and to learn about your company and your customers.
Active adult learners make the best employees. But many managers and trainers fail to recognize the fact that adults learn very differently than children and younger adults who are in the formal school system.
The Solution This article is a comparison and discussion of the concepts of andragogy, meaning “the art and science of helping adults to learn”. . . contrasted with pedagogy, the art and science of helping children to learn. There is some discussion about whether androgogy is a theory of learning, a theory of teaching, or a set of assumptions. Despite the controversy, androgogy is a workable concept and an excellent “conversation-piece” to describe many of the issues with adult education and ways it can and should be different from the education of children. What follows are five of the key factors that define androgogy and differentiate it from pedagogy, together with illustrations or examples of how they might be used by an instructor.
The need to know In a classroom of children, there are some concrete guidelines established by a school board with cultural and demographic information that establish what children should be expected to know by the fifth grade, for example. Adults, on the other hand, may be influenced by the boss or co-workers, or friends and family, or may even be compelled to enroll in some educational programs. For the most part, however, adults determine what they want and need to know for themselves. The largest majority of adults elect to enroll in classes, seek private instruction, or engage in independent learning projects.
It is very important to ensure the course is positioned and marketed appropriately. Perspective learners that select a particular course need to be assured that the course objectives and materials. That would help ensure the adults that enroll have a stronger desire to learn. The instructor should also conduct a short needs analysis (depending on the length and complexity of the course) in the first session to find out WHY each person enrolled and what they expected to learn.
The learners’ self-concept The self-esteem of children is fragile yet fairly malleable. Most children can be persuaded to take part in various activities using fairly simple methods. Adults, however, sometimes have self-concept issues that interfere with learning. Overcoming a self-developed label, such as “I’m not technical” or “I’ve been out of school too long” can interfere with an adult’s participation or success in a learning endeavor. It is important for the instructor to ferret out these concepts if they are causing problems, and to address them directly. When I encounter a student with a self-concept issue of “I’m not technical, and this assignment is technical, therefore I won’t try it.” I break down a web-development assignment into smaller pieces and go through it on an individual or small group level, using a comfortable and familiar metaphor, such as following a recipe to bake cookies or building a house. (The learners themselves often suggest a good metaphor with some intelligent questioning.) One early success in a course often goes a long way toward resolving this difficulty.
The role of learners’ experience Children generally have fewer unique experiences to draw knowledge from, partly because they have had less time to accumulate it and partly because children in public school have a similar experiential background. Adults often have rich layers of experience that are very different from one another and that provide excellent, relevant and compelling learning material, if it can be tapped for a course.
I recently attended a process planning workshop hosted by IBM. There were six attendees, all of whom were from related departments at Wells Fargo. In a needs assessment, the instructor hit on an issue that we were having. She scrapped the generic example used in the course materials and used our “case study” instead. She incorporated our example throughout the course as an example. My classmates and I were very motivated by the opportunity to solve a real world problem during the course. The course became much more powerful for us because it was immediately relevant.
Readiness to learn The curriculum for children is often designed so that courses follow the predicted developmental stage of the child, courses build on each other in sequence. With adults, the instructor cannot make such assumptions. Material taught before the student is ready to begin using it will not be as effective as material that can be used right away. As an example, I was part of a team that delivered software training to a group of people. The training was successful, and got excellent reviews. However, the software that was supposed to be delivered and used at the conclusion of the training was delayed by two months. We were asked to design and deliver a refresher course (at a considerable cost to the company) because the students were not comfortable using the software because of the delay between matriculation and availability.
Readiness to Learn also addresses the potential of learning disabilities and other disabilities. Many adults have disabilities that were not diagnosed when they were children, so this possibility (and eventuality) must be addressed.
Motivation Children can be motivated to learn nearly any topic by an enthusiastic and supportive teacher. Adults need more specific motivation. As an example, many adults engage in learning activities with anticipation of a better job. By providing placement services, networking opportunities, and marketable certificates; a learning opportunity can better meet that expectation and hence, more effectively motivate students to complete and excel at the program.
It is important for an instructor to understand the concepts of androgogy when teaching adults. In many key factors, there is a significant difference between adult and child learners. By designing courses with the needs and characteristics of adults in mind, an instructor or educator stands a much better chance of success. When designing educational programs for your company, design your training programs for adults.
