Valentine's Day: Ten Unique and Original Ways to Celebrate
Some people dislike Valentine's Day, other folks relish it, but one thing's for sure: A lot of people celebrate it! Valentine's Day is one of the most widely celebrated holidays in the United States, with millions of couples buying chocolate, roses, or going out to a special dinner. But what if you're bored with the traditional Valentine's Day routine? Here are ten fun and original ideas to make your Valentine's Day special and unique for you and your sweetie.
Idea #1: Plan a Valentines party for those you love. Make it a potluck to cut down on the expenses. Decorate your house with hearts and anything red and pink. Invite lots of people you care about, such as neighbors, friends, relatives, and their children. It's also particularly nice to remember those who have lost their spouses.
Idea #2: Make Valentine treats and take them to the pediatric unit at your local hospital, a nearby nursing home, or even surprise your friends who might be spending the evening at home alone.
Idea #3: Event tickets are a unique gift idea, and are enjoyed by almost everyone. However, these don't necessarily need to be used on Valentines Day or even shared with you. Consider purchasing tickets for your loved one so he or she can go to a special event that they could enjoy themselves, such as a women's lecture series or a fishing and camping show. Be sure to get two tickets so they can invite a friend who shares their interest!
Idea #4: Order dinner in and serve it on your good china. Even better, have a family picnic on the living room floor! Gather candles from around the house and eat by candlelight, and be sure to include the younger members of the family.
Idea #5: Plan an evening outdoors, doing something like skiing, sledding, or snowboarding. If you have children, go outdoors and build a snow fort in the back yard. Dinner can occur before or after the outdoor activities, and can be something as simple as pizza at home. End the evening with hot chocolate and cookies in front of the fire to warm everyone up again.
Idea #6: Recreate the "good old days." Visit your favorite old restaurant, if it is still nearby. If you have since moved away, call the restaurant to inquire if they will freeze and ship your favorite entrees to your home, so you can enjoy them as a special treat.
Idea #7: Clean things up! Have your loved one's car cleaned and detailed. Be sure to include a full tank of gas and a new emergency kit, if they don't already have one. A freshly cleaned car is something everyone can appreciate!
Idea #8: Sleepover! Host a sleepover for your grandkids to give their parents a much-deserved Valentine's Day break. Everyone benefits-you get to have special time with your grandkids, plus mom and dad have some time alone to rest and recharge.
Idea #9: Call in the pros! Give your loved one a gift certificate for a professional housecleaning. Or if you are brave, surprise them having the house cleaned while they are away. There is nothing like entering a spotless home when someone else has done all the hard work!
Idea #10: Say it all! Make a list of all the things you love about your special someone, including unique quirks and special secrets that only the two of you share. Write everything down in a beautifully bound book, or write each note on a separate slip of paper, and put them all inside a special box. This will likely become one of your spouse's most treasured gifts.
Valentine's is such a fun and special time of year for anyone who is in love. Make it really special this year by doing something unexpected. Your loved one is sure to appreciate your thought and efforts, and it will hopefully create lasting memories for the two of you to share and remember in years to come.

There's a tall and funny boy I've come to know
From what he said he likes about everything
Like pizza, dogs and sledding in the snow
Twix, baseball, and has one brother sibling.
His favorite time of day is late midnight;
His game is Black Ops winning every fight.
Snow can be the best plaything on Earth. One can have a snow ball fight and make a snow man with it. One can spend a chilly Sunday afternoon sledding down it until it is nothing but muddy mush and the snow clothes need cleaning. One can use it for a home like the Eskimos and polar bears do. One can snow ski on it, either for recreational purposes or for a professional competition. Regardless of what one is skiing for, it is always fun, until someone misses getting off of the chair lift! Watch out for that skier, it is a sign that they are a beginner and will run into you, if you are in their way. In order to ski, one needs the right equipment. No one should be skiing in shorts and a tank top, but it has been done (and not well). If you are a beginner, you will be falling a lot, and mostly on your rear. Strapping a pillow to it will not help because it will just throw your balance off. So, get some warm, cushioned snow bibs, or a snow outfit, a nice warm jacket, woolen socks, because the electric ones do not really work all that well especially when they get wet, gloves, hat, ski boots, and skis and hit the slopes, preferably the bunny hill. The bunny hill is the hill where people learn to ski. There will be ski instructors there with classes made up of kids who are in 1st grade to grandparents who have never skied in their lives. This is the best place for a beginner to be because it is a gentle slope with minimal trees and a very slow ski speed. Here, the beginner will be taught to ski by using the "snow plow" technique. This is where the skier begins moving and has their feet in a V shape. When they want to go faster, they move their legs a little closer together. When they want to stop, they push the V out farther. This gets them ready for the next stage of heliskiing, the green hill. The green hill is still for beginners, but also for novice skiers. Not too many instructors will take their classes here because skiers are working on getting the techniques of starting and stopping down, taking a chance on how fast they can go, and gaining confidence. There may be a few more trees to line the green hill or runs, but they are not in the way of the skier. They are more of a natural fence than anything else. The blue runs are for advanced skiers. Novice skiers should not try these runs until they are skiing down the green runs without stopping, falling, or feeling afraid. The blue runs contain steeper slopes which allow the skier to "slice" down the mountain instead of using the "snow plow" catskiing technique. There may be moguls which are bumps in the snow that a skier can either ski over or ski around, but these can throw a skier off balance and into the snow, if they are not careful. The moguls here are usually visible, to give the skier time to decide what they want to do to get over the mogul. The black diamond and double black diamond runs are the hardest runs. They contain moguls, a steep slope, sharp turns, and other obstacles that an expert skier would know how to negotiate. The thing to remember about skiing is to never leave the trail. It could kill you. About the Author

Got the idea for this some time after renting I am legend at block buster. Didn't really like it that much (only things I liked was Will Smith, Sam and I also lived in New York state during 2003 & 2004). Decided to write this fan fic anyway to get it off my mind: Just a brief list of some of the chapters in the story:
Snow day adventure parts 1 &2-A typical snow day in NYC, while watching TV, Robert decides to teach Sam a new trick, dog sledding, simple right? wrong!
Sam's wild adventure-Sam has an adventure of her own after chasing a squirrel, now lost in a building Sam attempts to find her way out and eventually succeeds.
The start-It's been 3 months since Robert, Anna & Ethan left NYC, Robert thinks about going back to the city while ajusting to living in Vermont.
Homecoming part 1-Robert adopts a Border collie named Tony and a female black German shepherd named Shadow.
what do you think of it so far?
i like it....but i would like to know what the dogs will serve in the story? not a bad idea though, i do like it
