i was just wondering fi there is any snowmobile mechanic schools where you can learn to work on snowmobiles. for example UTI has a MMI(motorcycle mechanic institute) where you go and learn about motorcycles and learn to me a motorcycle mechanic. im wondering if theres something like that for snowmobiles. thanks

Hi, my question is does anyone know if a piston from some other engine (from another motorcycle, automobile, snowmobile, etc.) will fit (maybe after some modifications) the Honda VT500 engine? Or are there somewhere any piston cross-reference tables?
Please do not post answers with where I can find the original piston, I just want to know if there is any other pistons out there with approximately the same dimensions as the VT500 pistons.

Snowmobile Motorcycle What do environmental wackos really want?
I will use 1 example. Remember a couple years ago when it was alledged that 2 very rare Lynx were found in some western mountain range vie a rubbing post designed to collect hairs for later examination? remember? if it were true a whole rack of laws would click into effect. Most humans wouldnt be allowed in this range of mountains. No new roads. No loud machinery like vechiles, snowmobiles, motorcycles and so on. No camping, no fires....the list goes on. What it really meant was humans get the h e l l out. Go live in a city. Later it was found to be fake, both Lynx's were in captivity. One in a zoo and the other by private ownership. They were planted knowing what would take effect. The democrat party is the party these groups get support from. Now I have read that the spotted owl isnt nearly and endangered as we thought and it probably was a seccussful scam that worked and nobody got caught. These type of groups are militiant and actually use arson to push an agenda.how far will go?

I have been told that air cooled two strokes (chainsaws, weedwhacekrs, some motorcycles, etc) take a different premix oil than water-cooled two strokes (snowmobiles, boat motors) because of the difference in operating temperatures.
However when I look at the labels, they all have the exact same designations, I believe it is TC3.
So what is the story? Are all good quality two stroke oils suitable for different applications?
I've used them interchangeably with no troubles, am I just lucky so far or is there really a difference?

There is a difference. You can get TC-3 or TCw-3. The w is for water cooled. The difference is due to the temp that the engines run. There are multi use oils from pennsoil and others that are blended for both uses. It is not worth it to skimp on the oil. Use the best and mix it per the engine manufactor's instructions. People will tell you to use more or use less or use this or that but the fact is engine manufactors spend a lot of time and money researching what is the best for their product.
